Mr Blinky 1 and 2 were follow ons from BPs road safety car, Mr Beef which toured schools and gave road safety advice to children.

The person speaking through the cars speakers was in fact in a van nearby and would answer the childrens questions.

Mr Beep was based on a 1958 British Ford Zephyr and was completely rebuilt only a few years ago and is now on loan to a museum.

There is a Canadian restoration programme and it featured on the show and they went all over Canada looking for a Ford Zephyr as the old one was so badly gone, so they took pieces from the original Mr Beep to put on the replacement vehicle.

The guys who had Mr.Beep repaired are local to me. we have had them at some local Car shows. It creeps me out.

I’m betting it doesn’t creep you out as much as the later kids safety mascot, Pat Troll. (Kinja still won’t let me post pictures). Apparently kids didn’t take to him and he only lasted one year.

He’s quarter of the way down the page.

I heard he was let go after an Officer Involved Shooting. Something about goats and bridges.

I think I heard something about that, something about young goats kidding about.

When the parents were asked if they would take it to court, they said they are concerned with the kids recovery and will cross that bridge when they come to it.

My local fire department had an RC dalmatian in a tiny fire truck that they’d take to restaurants and schools with. Same system, controlled by a guy on the other side of the room with a microphone to answer questions.

Was it that Restoration Garage show? The one with the guys from “The Guild” who actually know what they’re doing? Cos that is a good show. There was an episode where they were restoring an old Alfa, but they couldn’t find new enamel badges, so they just made their own.

It was restoration something or other.

It’s certainly one of the better shows out there.

It’s a good programme though saying that I’ve not seen it on TV for a couple of months.
